1,749 Students from Temporarily Occupied Territories of Donetsk, Luhansk Oblasts and the AR Crimea Entered Ukrainian Universities in 2018
According to the results of this year’s admission campaign, 1 749 students from the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk, Luhansk and AR Crimea entered higher educational institutions of Ukraine, which is 13% more than last year.
“Any strong country is struggling even for its single citizen, wherever he is and Ukraine is an example. And although in recent years school-leavers have lived in conditions of non-freedom and artificial isolation from their country, we have made every effort to enable young people to choose a higher education institution on free land. The dynamic increase of the number of entrants from temporarily occupied territories to Ukrainian HEIs only confirms the fact that we still keep in touch with citizens in the occupied territories,” said Vadym Chernysh.
Thus, in 2018 more than 3,000 people applied for consultation to Donbas-Ukraine educational centers. 1,522 people, which is 176 more than last year entered using a simplified procedure. Educational centers “Crimea-Ukraine” provided consultations for more than 700 people. 227 people, which is 23 more compared to last year, entered using a simplified procedure.
In order to improve access to education for children from settlements in temporarily occupied territories and to attract as many of them as possible to the Ukrainian universities, colleges and vocational education institutions, MTOT annually conducts a wide-ranging information campaign.
On June 1, with the participation of First Deputy Minister Yusuf Kurkchi, Deputy Ministers of George Tuka and Yurii Grymchak, an Open House in Donetsk, Luhansk and Kherson oblasts was organized. On August 6, Minister Vadym Chernysh visited Kherson Universities where Crimea-Ukraine educational centers work.
