Economic and Social Recovery Portal – MTOT Conducted a Series of Trainings for Platform Users

In order to improve skills of users related to work of “Economic and Social Recovery Portal”* portal.mtot.gov.ua (hereafter referred to as the Portal), the Ministry for Temporarily Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine (MTOT), together with the World Bank, PwC and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, conducted a series of trainings for local authorities.
As previously reported MTOT is conducting a series of trainings for local authorities on the use of the Portal and filling in up-to-date information. The aim of the trainings is to unite the information and efforts of the Government, local authorities, international partners and the public on peace building and assistance to the areas affected by the conflict in Eastern Ukraine, as well as assistance in attracting investments and loans, including international financial organizations resources and international technical assistance.

On November 22, 2018 the first stage of the trainings took place in Kharkiv, the second – on November 27 in Dnipro, the final stage – on November 29, in Kramatorsk and Sievierodonetsk. In total, 81 representatives of local authorities from territories affected by the conflict in the east of Ukraine took part in the trainings on promoting the Portal.
The participants of the trainings – representatives of local self-government authorities successfully mastered the skills of filling Portal and suggested to consolidate the efforts of MTOT, international partners and local authorities to provide international technical and humanitarian assistance within the framework of this online platform operation. Also, the participants of the training proposed to create a platform for communication and exchange of experience among the users of the Portal.
In addition to the previous work related to popularizing the Portal and a series of trainings for users from local authorities MTOT made it possible to place the Portal Banner on the Government Portal and on the official website of the National News Agency of Ukraine UKRINFORM.

The Ministry appeals to the interested public and the media to become active users of the Portal, as it will allow the authorities to respond promptly to the challenges and problems of the society in the east and to target the assistance of international humanitarian organizations.

*MTOT together with the World Bank and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) developed “Portal for Economic and Social Recovery” portal.mtot.gov.ua (hereafter – the Portal) – a modern, innovative online platform for operational monitoring of projects aimed at restoration of infrastructure and the development and support of communities and their projects.

The main purpose of the Portal is to create a single National Platform, which will summarize all information about the needs of the affected region, programs and projects designed to address them. The platform is intended to help executive bodies of all levels, donors, and, as a result, directly citizens who have been affected by the conflict. There is an opportunity to publish and update relevant information, to summarize and monitor it at any stage.

The Portal’s functional capabilities were presented at Stockholm Forum on Peace and Development (Sweden) and at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington DC (United States of America). For nearly half a year, the portal has been operating in a test mode, while MTOT has been thoroughly working on expanding the number of users among public authorities (central and local) in order to create a common database of projects and needs in territories affected by armed aggression of Russian Federation in the east of the country.
