MTOT: 17 Families Received State Aid for Persons Illegally Deprived of Liberty by RF in Connection with Political or Public Activities

As previously reported, MTOT launched state aid program for persons illegally deprived of liberty by Russian Federation in connection with political or public activities.
As a result of work of the Commission* under MTOT payments were made to families of another 13 persons illegally deprived of liberty by Russian Federation in connection with political or public activities.
In total, 17 families have already received state aid in the amount of UAH 100.000**
MTOT continues to process state aid applications and file cases for consideration by the Commission.
By the end of the year, the Commission intends to consider as many cases as possible to allocate targeted state funds to help individuals deprived of their personal liberty.
Employees of the Department for Persons Deprived of Personal Liberty of MTOT accept documents for the formation of cases for consideration by the Commission at subsequent meetings and provide consultations by phone 044 536 92 47 or by e-mail: vpos@mtot.gov.ua.

* In pursuance of paragraph 6 of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated April 18, 2018, No. 328 by the order of MTOT dated October 18, 2018, No. 106, the quantitative and personal composition of the Commission for consideration of issues related to assistance to persons deprived of personal liberty by illegal armed groups, occupation administrations and / or the authorities of Russian Federation in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and / or the territory of Russian Federation in connection with public or political activities of such persons, as well as the support of the abovementioned persons and their families.
** Amendments were made on October 17, 2018, to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated April 18, 2018, No. 328, which grants the payment of UAH 100.000 to persons deprived of personal liberty by illegal armed groups, occupation administrations and / or the authorities of Russian Federation in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and / or the territory of Russian Federation in connection with public or political activities of such persons or members of their families. The resolution provides for the following areas of funding under the relevant budget program: one-time cash assistance in the amount of UAH 100.000 to persons deprived of personal liberty and released in December 2017 – January 2018; compensation of legal costs and support to family members of political prisoners through a one-time payment of UAH 100,000 (consideration of issues related to such assistance and decision-making on financing of expenditures in this field is carried out by the Commission); payment of Levko Lukyanenko state scholarships; ensuring the implementation of measures for social rehabilitation of persons deprived of personal liberty.
